Titanium application

Titanium is an alloying element of steel (ferrotitanium), titanium will reduce the grain size of steel, and titanium as a deoxidizer will reduce the oxygen content of steel;  Adding titanium to stainless steel can reduce the carbon content.  Titanium is commonly alloyed with other metals such as aluminum (to improve grain size), vanadium, copper (to harden), magnesium and molybdenum.  Titanium mechanical products (plates, plates, tubes, wires, forgings, castings) are used in industrial, aerospace, leisure and emerging markets.  Titanium powder is used in fireworks to provide bright combustion particles.

Pigments, additives and coatings:

About 95 percent of the titanium ore mined from the earth's surface is refined into titanium dioxide (TiO2), an ultra-white, durable pigment used to make paints, paper, toothpaste and plastics.  Titanium dioxide is also used in cement, gemstones, paper sunshades and graphite as a strong compound for fishing and golf clubs.

Titanium dioxide in powder form is chemically inert, sun-resistant and opaque: it's these properties that make it bright and pure white, rather than the grey or brown chemicals used to make household plastics.  In nature, titanium dioxide is a compound found in anatase, titanium ore, and rutile.  Paint made of titanium dioxide can withstand high temperature, slightly prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt, resist the impact of the Marine environment.  Pure titanium dioxide has a high refractive index and higher optical dispersion ability than diamond.  In addition to being an important pigment, titanium dioxide is also used in sunscreens because it protects the skin on its own.

More recently, it has also been used in air purifiers (filter coatings) and films on buildings' Windows that, when exposed to ultraviolet (solar or artificial) or moisture in the air, produce highly reactive REDOX substances, such as hydroxyl, that can clean the air or keep Windows clean.
