Haixin independent research and development -MAX phase ceramic materials Molybdenum aluminum carbide(Mo3AlC2)

2020-02-25

The MAX phase of ternary layered compound is A new functional material of cermet, which is characterized by hexagonal layered structure, consisting of MX layer and A atomic layer alternately arranged. These ceramics contain more than 60 ternary carbides or nitrides. M represents the metal element in the front of the transition group; A is the family element; X is for carbon or nitrogen. Transition metal carbides and nitrides, known as Mxenes. MXenes is a selective etching of the MAX phase of an element with metallic conductivity, which connects layered solids, such as Ti2AlC, Ti3AlC2, and Ta4AlC3, by strong metallic bonds, ionic bonds, and covalent bonds. Mxenes binds hydroxyl and oxygen on the surface of the transition metal carbide to terminate the metal conductivity. In essence, it is "conductive". Our company independently developed and prepared Mo3AlC2, in which Mo3AlC2 (312 structure) has a purity of > 99%. The main difference between phases 211, 312, and 413 is the number of M atoms per layer of A in the crystal. MX is bound by strong covalent bonds, while MX sheets are bound by weak covalent bonds between the surface of atom A, making it easier for atom A to escape from the binding of MX sheets. This unique bond property gives the MAX phase excellent properties. With the increase of MX slice thickness, the performance is close to the corresponding m-x binary carbide. By adjusting the MX slice thickness, the performance of MAX phase can be improved.

Packaging and storage:

This product is vacuum-packed and stored according to the conventional medicine method. It should not be exposed to the air for a long time to prevent moisture aggregation, which will affect dispersion performance and use effect.
